2. Recommend energy-saving appliances
When looking for new appliances to help make your client’s house more energy-efficient, make sure you check the Energy Rating label. Energy Star appliances use less energy than standard appliances. Even though they might cost a little bit more initially, they are a great investment in the long run.

3. Use Light Emitting Diode bulbs (LED)

If your client has outdated light bulbs in their house, they might be consuming more energy than they need to. You can recommend that they switch to LEDs. They are more expensive than regular ones, but they are an economical long-term solution. LED bulbs last 2 to 4 times as long as CFL bulbs and 25 to 35 times as long as standard incandescent bulbs.  LED bulbs consume 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs. LED bulbs are extremely energy efficient. Furthermore, CFL bulbs emit nearly 80% of their energy as heat, whereas LED bulbs emit very little to no heat and do not contain mercury, unlike CFLs.

4. Set a programmable thermostat
A very effective technique to reduce energy use is to install a programmable thermostat. Your client can program the heating or cooling of their home and the thermostat will automatically adjust the settings so that the energy consumption is optimal.

5. Get new windows
You could also suggest to your clients to get new windows. Windows with double glazing are better insulated than regular windows and might save them a lot of energy and a lot of money!
