The Electrical Apprentice will work closely with a qualified electrical supervisor, to undertake tasks and activities that support their workplace learning. Successfaul completion of thea apprenticeship will result in the trade qualification UEE30820 – Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (Electrician). This position will also be provided with support and guidance to enable the apprentice to successfully meet required training milestones.

Requirement: Workers will be required to show evidence of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Attend and complete on and off site training (including trade school) as defined by the nominated training provider.
  • Ensuring training/profiling logs are kept up to date and completed correctly
  • Work safely and align with all business QHSE standards and regulations
    Follow instruction / directions from the nominated supervisor as applicable
  • Development and application of electrical skills throughout the employment period

Desired Skills and Experience

Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • Current C class driver’s licence
  • Minimum completion of Year 10
  • The ability to pass a colour vision test
  • Enthusiasm and interest in obtaining an electrical trade qualification

Desirable:

  • Good interpersonal / verbal communication skills, to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including peers, clients and supervisors

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years in resource industry, predominately working in either maintenance or construction
  • The use of SAP or previous exposure to ERP programs
  • Strong computer literacy 
  • Development of work packs and permits through to execution and closeout
  • Understanding of P&IDs, wiring diagrams and schematics 
  • Ability to fault find and work to a desired outcome
  • Instrumentation and tubing
  • Follow clear QA procedures and reporting
  • Working independently, or in a small team
  • Performing HV & LV Isolations under permit conditions
  • Performing critical function testing
  • Performing hazardous area inspections
  • Servicing and exercising control valves
  • Performing inspections and servicing on switch rooms, motors, transformers (including oil sampling), UPS’s & batteries, variable speed drives, Heat tracing and calibration checks.
